A floating painter’s line is essential on all Optimists to prevent it from sinking under the boat or into the engine of the support boat, which poses a significant safety and operational risk. The main advantage of the fluorescent yellow colour is its superior visibility (also known as ‘high-vis’), making the line much more visible against the water’s surface. This is a key factor for safety and ease of use.
