The return air system is designed to exhaust a variable quantity of air from the interior spaces of the ship (bathrooms, washroom, galley, engine rooms, etc.) in order to (in synergy with the refreshment system) the complete ventilation per hour required by the technical specifications.

Since extraction systems are usually dimensioned for continuous operation, it is possible to adjust the airflow/noise level for overnight use decrease by adjusting the appropriate speed controller.
