The removable hinge is attached with only an aluminium pin, which is held in place by a piece of shrink tubing. A string is incorporated into the rubber, so that even when broken, the race can still be sailed out.

The distance between the centres of the mounting holes of all joints is 32 mm. To remove a joint: simply cut the hose and push out the pin.
