How do anodes work?
Almost all metals corrode, some faster than others. The more noble the metal, the less easily it corrodes. When a nobler metal comes into contact with a less noble metal, it is more likely to corrode and the noble metal remains protected. The less noble metal is the anode and sacrifices itself, so to speak. The greater the difference between the metals, the more easily the anode sacrifices itself.
